Govt decides countrywide military deployment in Muharram

As Muharram approaches, the Federal Ministry of Interior in Islamabad has taken a significant step to ensure security and peace across the country. They have decided to deploy Pakistan Army troops nationwide during this sacred month. This deployment, made under Article 245, reflects the government’s commitment to maintaining law and order during the sensitive period of Muharram.

Circulars have been dispatched to the provinces, including Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, informing them about the countrywide deployment of military troops. The decision was made in response to requests from the provinces to assist in upholding law and order during the Muharram observances.

In Punjab, the government has specifically asked for the deployment of both Pakistan Army and Rangers in sensitive areas of the province. This measure aims to ensure the safety of the public and prevent any potential disturbances during the solemn occasions of Muharram.

Moreover, Sindh Home Department has taken preventive measures by imposing a ban on pillion riding on the 9th and 10th of Muharram across the province. This restriction is meant to enhance security and minimize the risk of any untoward incidents.

In the capital city, Islamabad, additional security measures have been put in place. The entry of motorcycles has been strictly prohibited in the Red Zone due to security concerns during Muharram ul Haram. However, in a bid to facilitate the public, a shuttle service has been introduced to allow entry into the Red Zone from designated areas, such as Sarina Chowk, Parade Avenue, and Marriot Chowk.

With these proactive measures, the government aims to ensure that the sacred observances of Muharram take place peacefully and without any disruptions, emphasizing the importance of maintaining harmony and security during this important month for Muslims.
