Imposition of section 144 in Rawalpindi extended.

The imposition of Section 144 has been extended by the Rawalpindi authorities until June 4 in order to prevent any potential disturbances in law and order. The expanded scope of Section 144 prohibits all forms of public gatherings in Rawalpindi.

The deputy commissioner of Rawalpindi, Waqar Cheema, issued a notification stating that public rallies and gatherings are completely banned, and the display of weapons is also prohibited in the district. The ban will remain in effect until June 4, and strict action will be taken against individuals who violate these orders. However, the ban does not apply to law enforcement officers, police personnel, women, and children.

This law enforcement of section 144 by Rawalpindi administration was a consequence of violent protests that occurred after the arrest of Imran Khan, the former prime minister and chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, on May 9.
