Interim PM Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar’s cabinet to take oath today

Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has concluded the process of selecting individuals for his interim cabinet. Various key positions have been deliberated:

  • Former finance secretary Waqar Masood is likely to assume the role of the finance minister in the interim government.
  • Dr. Gohar Ejaz, an accomplished industrialist and recipient of the Sitara-e-Imtiaz award, is anticipated to lead the Commerce and Industry Ministry.
  • Former foreign secretary Ambassador Jalil Abbas Jilani is being considered for the post of interim foreign minister.
  • Senator Sarfaraz Bugti is poised to take charge of the interior ministry during this caretaker period.
  • For the role of caretaker information minister, considerations include Syed Muhammad Ali and former Balochistan government spokesperson Farah Azeem.
  • Tabish Gohar is anticipated to head the energy ministry in the caretaker government.
  • Aneeq Ahmed is designated to serve as the caretaker federal minister for Religious and Interfaith Harmony.

The caretaker cabinet is also likely to include notable figures such as columnist Almas Haider, Umar Saif, Dr. Ahmad Saqib, and former SECP chairman Muhammad Ali Ghuman.

Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar was sworn in on August 14, taking on the responsibilities of interim prime minister.
