J. Robert Oppenheimer’s Grandson Points Out Inaccuracies in the Christopher Nolan’s Film

J. Robert Oppenheimer’s grandson, Charles, recently spoke about the inaccuracies in Christopher Nolan’s biopic about his grandfather. He mentioned that his least favorite part of the film is the scene involving the ‘poison apple reference,’ where Oppenheimer injects cyanide into an apple intended for his university tutor. Charles clarified that this incident was never confirmed in the original biography ‘American Prometheus,’ and it’s a serious accusation without historical evidence.

Charles further explained that no one who knew Robert Oppenheimer during his life ever heard about such an event or considered it to be true. He believes it’s a case of historical revision, misrepresenting his grandfather’s life.

However, Charles did mention that his favorite part of the movie was the effective conversation between Einstein and Oppenheimer at the end.

The biopic ‘Oppenheimer’ is based on the life of the American physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, often referred to as ‘the father of the atomic bomb,’ and it draws inspiration from the 2005 biography written by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin. The film stars Irish actor Cillian Murphy in the lead role.

‘Oppenheimer’ performed well at the box office, earning $82.4 million in its debut weekend in the United States and Canada, and an additional $98.0 million in 78 international markets, bringing its total global earnings to $180.4 million.
