Nawaz Sharif Returning to Pakistan Next Month to Lead Election Campaign

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif mentioned that Nawaz Sharif, leader of Pakistan Muslim League(N), will return to Pakistan next month and face his court cases. Shehbaz Sharif stated in an interview that once the caretaker government is established, he plans to go to London and discuss Nawaz Sharif’s return. Nawaz Sharif is expected to lead his party’s election campaign and could become the prime minister for the fourth time if their party wins the next election.

The Prime Minister informed that the President has signed the advice to dissolve the National Assembly, and discussions about the caretaker prime minister are ongoing. He anticipates finalizing the choice for caretaker prime minister soon after consultations with allied parties and Nawaz Sharif. He emphasized that he will hand over power to the caretaker setup, and the Election Commission will determine the election date.

Shehbaz Sharif highlighted that his government oversaw a brief 16-month term formed by a coalition of different ideologies. He noted their achievements during challenging times, including handling floods, providing timely relief, and transparently distributing foreign aid.

He proudly stated that his government prevented Pakistan from defaulting, despite tough negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He also mentioned that friendly relationships with other countries were repaired during his tenure.

Regarding foreign relations, Shehbaz Sharif mentioned efforts to improve ties with the United States and the establishment of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) to attract investments in various sectors.

He expressed his non-satisfaction with the PTI chief’s imprisonment, citing mistreatment faced by himself and others during their time in jail.
