New Gilgit Baltistan Elected CM Gul Bar Khan Faces Legal Issues

According to GB Assembly Speaker Nazir Ahmed Advocate, Haq secured the support of 19 lawmakers, including members from the PTI forward bloc, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

In the 32-member house, the PTI held 19 seats, PPP had four, PML-N had three, Muttahida Wahdat-i-Muslimeen had three, Islam Tehreek Pakistan had one, JUI-F had one, and there was one independent candidate. The former CM had nominated Raja Azam Khan for the position with the approval of the PTI chief.

GB CM candidate Gulbar Khan declared absconder It was recently revealed that the GB CM candidate Gulbar Khan is a declared absconder as he is wanted by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police.

In July 2015, Gulbar Khan was involved in a case related to a fake cheque worth Rs 2.2 million, which led to the issuance of his arrest warrants by a court in Mardan. The case was brought to court by Senator Faisal Kareem from Mardan.

It is important to note that the GB assembly elected a new CM after the disqualification of Khalid Khurshid by the regional court.

In a fake degree case, the Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Court had disqualified former chief minister Khalid Khursheed Khan from his position.
