PAKISTANI WOMEN ARE NOW ALLOWED TO PERFORM HAJJ WITHOUT A MEHRAM

The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony announced that the Hajj policy for 2024 will be revealed in the next two weeks. This new policy will allow women to undertake the Hajj pilgrimage without the presence of a mehram, a close male relative. The federal cabinet is expected to approve the Hajj policy within 10 days, and the Hajj application process for the upcoming year will commence following the cabinet’s approval.

Additionally, the ministry has introduced stringent regulations concerning the sighting of the crescent moon. According to these rules, only the Ruet-e-Hilal committee will be authorized to announce the sighting of the crescent moon, with private committees no longer permitted to do so.

Caretaker Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Aneeq Ahmed, revealed that the Saudi Arabian government will enhance facilities and services for Pakistani pilgrims during Hajj 2024. Improvements in accommodation, meals, and transportation aim to provide pilgrims with a more comfortable and convenient experience. Saudi Minister for Hajj and Umrah, Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, affirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to cooperation with Pakistan and ongoing efforts to enhance services for Pakistani pilgrims.
