More Than 50% Population Wants to Get Out of Pakistan

More than 50% of Pakistanis would consider moving abroad for better opportunities, according to the WIN Worldviews Survey 2026.

The findings show that 52% of respondents would consider leaving the country, compared with 46% of people globally.

The survey found that 40% of Pakistanis would move abroad if they could do so legally, while 12% would move regardless of the conditions. Meanwhile, 48% said they would prefer to stay in Pakistan, and less than 1% did not know or gave no response.

Most Young Pakistanis Prefer to Stay

Despite the overall interest in moving abroad, most young Pakistanis prefer to remain in the country. Among respondents aged 18 to 24, 56% said they would not move abroad, while 44% would consider relocating for better opportunities.

Of these young respondents, 36% said they would move abroad if they could do so legally, while 8% would move regardless of the conditions.

The trend differs considerably from the global youth average. Worldwide, 66% of young people would consider moving abroad, including 51% who would do so legally and 15% who would move regardless of the conditions. Only 27% said they would prefer to stay in their home country.

In Vietnam, 40% of young people would move abroad if they could do so legally, while 1% would move regardless of the conditions. Meanwhile, 59% would prefer to stay.

In Germany, 46% would consider moving abroad legally and 20% would move regardless of the conditions. In France, the corresponding figures stand at 43% and 27%.
