Ahsan Iqbal Announces 15,000 Jobs for Karachi
Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal has announced that Karachi’s upcoming IT Park is expected to create 15,000 jobs and generate up to $100 million in annual ICT exports.
The Karachi IT Park is a flagship E-Pakistan project under the government’s Uraan Pakistan initiative and is being developed by the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) near Jinnah International Airport.
The project will feature around 1.18 million square feet of covered space, with 220 modern offices, 30 startup spaces and a Tier-III data center. It is designed to serve as a regional technology hub for Karachi.
The government has allocated Rs. 3.75 billion for the project under the 2026-27 Public Sector Development Program. Official budget documents show Rs. 3.745 billion has been earmarked for the Karachi IT Park this fiscal year.
The facility is intended to support IT companies, startups and technology-focused businesses while strengthening Pakistan’s digital economy and export capacity.
