CDA Begins Issuing Allotment Letters to E-12 Affectees

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has started issuing allotment letters to affectees of Sector E-12, allowing the civic agency to take possession of land and begin development work.

The CDA launched E-12 in 1989, but development remains incomplete after 37 years. Delays in paying compensation to landowners whose properties the CDA acquired have contributed significantly to the prolonged delay.

The civic agency recently issued 15 allotment letters to affectees as part of efforts to resolve pending compensation cases and build trust with local landowners. The CDA has completed development work in most parts of three sub-sectors, while Sub-Sector 4 still requires further work.

The CDA had also launched an operation to take possession of the land, but local landowners initially resisted the move and demanded resolution of their compensation claims. The agency has since cleared areas where it has already paid compensation.

Around 146 allotment letters against built-up property (BuP) reportedly remain pending. Following discussions with the CDA chairman and Member Estate, officials agreed to expedite legitimate compensation cases.

CDA Deputy Commissioner Abdul Rauf Khan, Director Enforcement Chaudhry Kamran Bakhat and Deputy Director Riaz Khan visited the site and handed 15 allotment letters to affectees. Officials also assured them that the CDA would issue the remaining letters soon.

A committee at the land directorate has also been formed to address pending land issues involving local residents. The CDA also faces pending compensation cases in several other sectors, including E-13, D-13, F-13, C-13, C-15 and C-16. An official said authorities should compensate all genuine landowners and allot plots against acquired land and built-up property without delay.
