PTI MPA Rides Donkey Carts to Sindh Assembly in Protest Over Fuel Prices

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA), Sajjad Ali Soomro rode a donkey cart to the Sindh Assembly in protest against rising fuel prices.

PTI MPA Soomro and other party members traveled from an area near the assembly to its main entrance on donkey carts. They carried placards and chanted slogans against the recent increase in fuel prices.

Soomro said the unusual protest was meant to highlight the impact of expensive fuel on ordinary citizens. He said petrol had become so expensive that lawmakers could no longer afford to travel to the assembly in their vehicles. The protesters demanded that the federal government withdraw the increase and provide relief to consumers.

The protest came amid growing concern over rising petroleum prices. The Sindh Assembly had earlier unanimously passed a resolution calling on the federal government to abolish the petroleum levy and provide relief to consumers. The resolution was moved by Jamaat-e-Islami lawmaker Muhammad Farooq.

Sindh Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar said the matter fell under the federal government’s jurisdiction.

The assembly also recently adopted a separate resolution calling for an end to daily increases in petroleum prices.
