Govt Empowers Women Entrepreneurs Across Pakistan
The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has proposed a new initiative to support at least 20 technology startups led by women every year. The plan aims to encourage female entrepreneurship and increase women’s participation in Pakistan’s digital economy.
The initiative is called the Women Innovation and Startup Empowerment (WISE) Lab. It is designed to help women entrepreneurs develop their business ideas, improve their commercial potential and build sustainable ventures in the technology sector.
The ministry also plans to provide digital skills training to 200 women who run small businesses each year. The training will teach participants how to use digital tools and technology solutions to manage their operations better, reach more customers and sell through online marketplaces.
The proposed measures target the main barriers that hold women back in technology entrepreneurship. These include gaps in digital skills, limited access to business networks and a lack of institutional support. Through startup assistance and focused training, the ministry hopes to help women turn their technical knowledge and ideas into viable businesses.
The WISE Lab is part of wider efforts to increase women’s participation in emerging technologies and technology driven economic activity. By backing startups and small businesses, the programme aims to open up more opportunities for women entrepreneurs and contribute to the growth of Pakistan’s digital economy.
