Lahore Police Tighten Security at Metro Bus and Orange Line Stations After Harassment Complaints

LAHORE: Lahore police have ordered comprehensive security measures at all Metro Bus and Orange Line Train stations in the city, following complaints of harassment. SP Dolphin Bilal Ahmed has been given a special task to oversee the arrangements.

The directives come on the instructions of the DIG Operations, who said that the dignity and safety of passengers is the police’s top priority. The measures apply to commuters on both public transport services.

As part of this assignment, Bilal Ahmed visited Metro Bus and Orange Line stations across Lahore, reviewed the security arrangements and issued instructions for special measures at every station. He also held meetings with the staff deployed at the stations.

During his inspection, he carried out security audits at Shahdara, Bhati Gate, MAO College, Gaddafi Stadium and other stations. A Dolphin Squad spokesperson said the audits are aimed at ensuring the safety of women and children who use these services.

Bilal Ahmed said the police were taking steps to protect citizens who depend on public transport, and that strict action was being taken against those who harass women and children at stations. He also directed personnel to closely monitor suspicious activity around all Orange Line and Metro Bus stations.
