Punjab Starts Early Price Monitoring Ahead of Ramazan

Punjab Chief Minister’s Special Assistant for Food Safety and Consumer Protection Salma Butt has directed authorities to begin advance preparations from October to monitor the supply, demand, stocks, and prices of essential commodities ahead of Ramazan.

She issued the directions while chairing a performance review meeting of the PERA Force and price control magistrates at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office.

Butt ordered officials to increase cold storage capacity to maintain adequate stocks of apples, dates, gram, bananas, and other essential commodities.

The meeting also reviewed price-control measures, enforcement operations, and the overall supply situation in the district.

The district food controller briefed participants on available wheat and flour stocks and the operation of mills.

Butt said a digital application had been introduced to improve price monitoring and directed officials to upload inspection and enforcement records to the system without delay.

She also ordered strict enforcement of officially notified price lists.
