Quetta to Get 17 More Electric Buses

Seventeen more electric buses will soon join the Quetta Green Bus Service, expanding public transport to areas of the provincial capital that currently have limited connectivity.

Quetta Division Commissioner Zeeshan Lashari announced the expansion while chairing a meeting to review facilities provided under the Green Bus Service and discuss ways to improve them.

The operating agency briefed the meeting on the service’s routes, bus stops, operations and facilities for commuters. Officials said 25 Green Buses currently operate in Quetta, including four buses exclusively for women.

The authorities have also deployed female staff on the women only buses to provide female passengers with safer and more convenient travel. The service operates on four routes from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and has several bus stops along the routes.

The Kuchlak route has around 40 stops, while approximately 50 stops connect the Metropolitan area with Sariab Road. Officials also told the meeting that the Green Bus Service has expanded to Turbat, where four buses currently operate.
