Railways Restores Another Passenger Train

Pakistan Railways has restored the Mohenjo Daro Express nearly six months after suspending the service due to insufficient revenue.

The train resumed its service from Rohri station on Sunday with six coaches carrying several hundred passengers. It reached Larkana in the afternoon, where a large number of people gathered to welcome the passengers and railway staff.

The restoration followed a sustained campaign by regular passengers and local residents, who held rallies in different parts of the province to demand the resumption of the service. People welcomed the train by showering rose petals on the driver, crew and passengers.

Railway staff, including Station Master Ayaz Abbasi, also joined the celebrations, while traditional Sindhi music was played at the station. Campaign leaders said the suspension had affected a large number of commuters who relied on the train for affordable travel between Rohri and Kotri.

They particularly thanked the federal government and the railways minister for supporting the restoration. They also urged passengers to use the Mohenjo Daro Express regularly to help ensure that the service generates sufficient revenue to continue operating.

The campaign leaders further called for the upgrading of the Larkana-Karachi railway tracks so other services, including the Bolan Mail and Khushhal Khan Khattak Express, could also operate on the route.
